about

A song of hope inspired by the first days and weeks of winter

lyrics

Everyone’s in by the fire side

some hibernate while others hide

The nights are long and the days are shorter

and they wait for time to turn a corner

and the air is so cold my lungs might freeze

I see the coal black crow in the naked tree

and it puts my heart at ease

I held on like permafrost

tried to recover what was lost

scavenging the fallen snow

feathers quiver and December winds blow

twisted branch in the pale sky

I can’t help feel

held still beneath the blanket of white

that a heart is bound to heal

I know the springtime sun will come collect

and the rain will wash and resurrect

And we’ll put our heavy coats away again

After this frozen quiet time to mend
