I couldn't make it home
for Christmas last year
I can barely make ends meet
Since I've been living here
Out here on the coast
Where your never see the snow
Where the rain falls and the wind blows
I hadn't seen my folks, since before I moved out west
And though I missed my family
I couldn't help but feel blessed
For I'd made a couple friends
And they made good company
And we all pitched in together
And got ourselves a tree

With wine in our glasses
And turkey on the table
We're all so far from home
But I think we might be able
To have ourselves a time
It couldn't be much better
Laughing and telling stories
As we spend the day together

Danny played guitar
And Em put up the tree
We didn't have many decorations
Except the ones we found for free
Luc he made some gravy
And he brought a pie to bake
I made sure to make the turkey
Like my mother would have made
Holly sang some songs
And Petey brought the wine
He always could be counted on
To get the best and cheapest kind
We passed around some little gifts
That didn't cost a lot
But everybody felt the love
In everything they got

Now the holidays are coming
I did pretty good this season
No I didn't make the big bucks
But I did better than break even
I might even make it home
It's still too soon to say
But I know I'll have a good time
Even if I have to stay
